Building a community on social media

Fostering a sense of community around your brand on social media and building relationships with your followers is known as ‘community management’. This concept not only builds a genuine two-way conversation and brand loyalty, it also shows the platform that you’re an important account with good engagement that should be served to more people.

Tips and tricks for community management;

  • Reply to DMs as quickly as possible, and don’t forget to check your ‘General’ and ‘Requests’ inboxes too. 

  • Consistently respond to comments and mentions on your posts, even if it’s not a direct question. 

  • Comment on posts that you are tagged in. 

  • Hit the ‘follow’ button back on people that follow you.

  • Follow influencers and content creators that you would like to work with, or believe align with your brand.

  • Update your settings to ‘receive notifications’ so you don’t miss a crucial opportunity to provide support to your customers.

  • Dedicate 15 minutes each day to focus on community management.
