When posting reels on Instagram, one of our favourite ways to increase reach and engagement is to utilise current, trending audio.

  • audio has become a searchable opportunity (similar to a hashtag) where users can be introduced to brands by exploring a trending audio's page. ⁠

  • the beauty of audio is the association a sound can bring to a brand - it has become the modern interpretation of a 'jingle'. Think Apple with Harry Styles 'Music for a Sushi Restaurant' or Cadbury with Phil Collins 'In the Air Tonight.'⁠

  • it gives you an opportunity to take advantage of viral moments in pop culture and leverage the hype that certain audio is already experiencing. Consider the amount of Taylor Swift songs you've heard since her Eras tour started, or outtakes from The Kardashians.⁠

here are a few ways to discover trending audio:

  • use ‘discover’ ‘for you’ or ‘explore’ pages on tiktok and instagram and observe the most utilised sounds

  • follow influencers, content creators or accounts in your niche or industry to stay informed about the latest trending audio they are using

  • search for popular or trending hashtags and pay attention to the audio tracks being used

  • keep an eye out for viral challenges and trends

  • on instagram, trending sounds will have an upward arrow next to the name of the sound
